In 2020 a warm but balanced summer and well-spread rainfall allowed steady ripening, giving Barolos of radiant fruit and soft tannins. Rinaldi's Barolo Tre Tine 2020 is sunny and harmonious: cherry, strawberry, rose, sweet spice and herbal notes, a juicy palate, polished tannins and a long finish. Antonio Galloni awarded it 95 points. Its balance between warmth and freshness is the hallmark of the year in this cellar. This Tre Tine opens up generously already, making it an ideal introduction to the house style, yet it has the freshness to evolve elegantly for many more years.
The producer · Giuseppe Rinaldi
In the heart of the village of Barolo, the Giuseppe Rinaldi cellar is one of the sanctuaries of traditional Barolo. The family has made wine for generations, and it was Giuseppe Rinaldi, nicknamed "Citrico" for his sharp wit, who turned the estate into an international reference, stubbornly defending a classic style while many others chased barriques. Today his daughters Marta and Carlotta run the winery, following in the footsteps of their father, who passed away in 2018. The vineyards lie in some of the appellation's most celebrated crus: Brunate, Cannubi San Lorenzo, Ravera and Le Coste, joined more recently by Bussia in Monforte d'Alba. Brunate yields the flagship wine, while Tre Tine is a blend of several plots in the old Langhe tradition. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations, long macerations and ageing in large oak casks are the rule. The result is transparent, perfumed, remarkably long-lived Barolo, among the most coveted by collectors worldwide.
