Critics hailed 2021 as a great Barolo vintage: a dry but not excessive summer, cool nights and a healthy harvest produced structured, fragrant wines of notable tension. Giuseppe Rinaldi's Barolo Brunate 2021 fits that picture as a wine destined for a long life. Classic in style and patient by nature, it should be approached with time in mind. Expect an intense nose of rose, cherry, orange and spice, with a deep palate, dense tannins and bright acidity that defines its vertical profile. Still young and settling down, this Brunate will reward those willing to wait, revealing its full complexity over time.
The producer · Giuseppe Rinaldi
In the heart of the village of Barolo, the Giuseppe Rinaldi cellar is one of the sanctuaries of traditional Barolo. The family has made wine for generations, and it was Giuseppe Rinaldi, nicknamed "Citrico" for his sharp wit, who turned the estate into an international reference, stubbornly defending a classic style while many others chased barriques. Today his daughters Marta and Carlotta run the winery, following in the footsteps of their father, who passed away in 2018. The vineyards lie in some of the appellation's most celebrated crus: Brunate, Cannubi San Lorenzo, Ravera and Le Coste, joined more recently by Bussia in Monforte d'Alba. Brunate yields the flagship wine, while Tre Tine is a blend of several plots in the old Langhe tradition. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations, long macerations and ageing in large oak casks are the rule. The result is transparent, perfumed, remarkably long-lived Barolo, among the most coveted by collectors worldwide.
