The wine
Ornellaia is the estate's flagship, in this vintage made from Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (26%), Cabernet Franc (12%) and Petit Verdot (7%). 2023 was marked by downy mildew pressure: careful fruit selection made the difference, while the sandy soils drained the spring rains.
Tasting notes
Wild blackberry, violet, graphite, black cherry and spice. Acidity is lively, the tannins firm but ripe, the finish mineral.

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was founded in 1981 in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast, and is now part of the Frescobaldi group.

Grilled red meats, game, aged cheeses.
