Domaine d'Auvenay is the personal estate of Lalou Bize-Leroy, one of the most charismatic and influential figures in Burgundy, former co-manager of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and the soul of Domaine Leroy. The property, on the heights above Saint-Romain, was acquired by the family in 1988 and has since become the place where Lalou expresses her vision of wine most intimately. The vineyards, just a few hectares split into tiny parcels, include jewels such as Chevalier-Montrachet, Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, Mazis-Chambertin and Bonnes-Mares, alongside lieux-dits in Meursault, Puligny and Auxey-Duresses and plots of Aligoté. Everything is farmed biodynamically, with minuscule yields, obsessive attention to detail and respectful winemaking without shortcuts. Production is so small that every bottle is a rarity. D'Auvenay's wines, from whites of extraordinary concentration and minerality to reds of intense purity, are among the most sought-after and collected in the world.
