A balanced, even vintage in Alto Adige, 2016 combined a warm summer with cool nights and a dry autumn, giving whites of great aromatic freshness and elegance. The 2016 Epokale, the late-harvest Gewürztraminer that Cantina Tramin ages for years in the darkness of a former mine, reflects this poise with a more lifted profile: rose, orange blossom, lychee, peach, candied citrus peel, ginger and honey. The palate unites sweetness and tension, with lively freshness lightening the wine and a long, spicy finish. Already enjoyable, it has many years of evolution ahead.

Founded in 1898 in Termeno (Tramin), the village that tradition credits with giving Gewürztraminer its name, Cantina Tramin is one of Alto Adige's benchmark cooperatives. It brings together a few hundred member growers who farm small plots on the slopes of the Bassa Atesina, from the lowest valley-floor vineyards to those climbing above five hundred metres, on limestone, moraine and porphyry soils. Over recent decades, under the winemaking leadership of Willi Stürz, the winery has made an extraordinary leap in quality, enforcing rigorous vineyard selection and precise vinification. Gewürztraminer is its signature grape, interpreted in several styles, from Nussbaumer, a benchmark dry white, to Epokale, a Spätlese aged for years in the silence of a high-altitude former silver mine. Alongside the aromatic whites, the range includes Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and mountain reds. Tramin shows how a cooperative can reach the summit of Italian winemaking without losing its bond with the land.

Yes: from your eWibe Cellar you offer it on the Market at the price you choose. The bottle is not moved: only the owner changes.

Yes, whenever you wish. Within Italy: €20 for the first bottle and €5 for each additional one, with optional transit insurance at 3% of the declared value. We ship early in the week, in packaging designed for wine.
