The wine in this vintage

Epokale is Cantina Tramin's most singular wine: a late-harvest Gewürztraminer Spätlese aged for years in a gallery of a former high-altitude silver mine, in darkness and at constant temperature, before release. 2013 in Alto Adige began cool and late, followed by a warm summer and a favourable autumn that allowed slow, aromatic ripening. The 2013 Epokale shows rose, lychee, candied exotic fruit, honey, ginger and oriental spice; the palate is enveloping, with measured sweetness balanced by lively freshness. It is in full harmony, yet can continue to evolve for a long time.

Founded in 1898 in Termeno (Tramin), the village that tradition credits with giving Gewürztraminer its name, Cantina Tramin is one of Alto Adige's benchmark cooperatives. It brings together a few hundred member growers who farm small plots on the slopes of the Bassa Atesina, from the lowest valley-floor vineyards to those climbing above five hundred metres, on limestone, moraine and porphyry soils. Over recent decades, under the winemaking leadership of Willi Stürz, the winery has made an extraordinary leap in quality, enforcing rigorous vineyard selection and precise vinification. Gewürztraminer is its signature grape, interpreted in several styles, from Nussbaumer, a benchmark dry white, to Epokale, a Spätlese aged for years in the silence of a high-altitude former silver mine. Alongside the aromatic whites, the range includes Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and mountain reds. Tramin shows how a cooperative can reach the summit of Italian winemaking without losing its bond with the land.

Can I sell it?

Yes: from your eWibe Cellar you offer it on the Market at the price you choose. The bottle is not moved: only the owner changes.

Can I have it delivered?

Yes, whenever you wish. Within Italy: €20 for the first bottle and €5 for each additional one, with optional transit insurance at 3% of the declared value. We ship early in the week, in packaging designed for wine.
