The wine
The 173ème Édition of Grande Cuvée is built around the 2017 harvest with 150 wines from thirteen different years, including 31% reserve wines, and spent about seven years in the cellars.
Tasting notes
Toast, brioche and stone fruit with floral and citrus notes; creamy and generous, finishing on crisp lemon.
The producer
Krug
Reims house founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug. It ferments in small oak casks and keeps one of the largest libraries of reserve wines in Champagne, from which each year comes Grande Cuvée, a numbered edition blending over a hundred wines from many years.
Food pairing
Rich dishes: lobster, turbot with butter, roast poultry, truffle, long-aged Comté or Parmigiano.
Serve at 10–12 °C.
