Is this wine in your eWibe Cellar? Offer it for saleThe wine in this vintage
Largillier is one of the rare cuvées Guillaume Selosse produces under his own label: a non-vintage Champagne from the single plot that gives it its name, made according to the family philosophy, with barrel fermentation, native yeasts, long ageing and minimal dosage. The result is a wine of strong identity, closer to a great white wine with bubbles than to a conventional Champagne: the nose shows ripe fruit, candied citrus, hazelnut, spice and an elegant saline, oxidative imprint; the palate is broad, vinous and savoury, with a delicate mousse and a very long finish. Robert Parker rated it 96 points. Already expressive, it can be kept for a few more years and will continue to evolve.
The producer · Guillaume Selosse
Guillaume Selosse is the son of Anselme Selosse, the Avize grower whose Jacques Selosse house changed how Champagne is perceived, placing terroir, soil-friendly viticulture and barrel vinification at the centre, with wines conceived as great white Burgundies with bubbles. Raised alongside his father, Guillaume has gradually taken up that legacy, assuming leadership of the family cellar, while also creating a small label under his own name from plots he owns himself. Production is tiny and handled with a meticulous, artisanal approach: manual vineyard work, low yields, native-yeast fermentations, barrel ageing, long periods on the lees and minimal dosage. The style is intense, vinous and deeply rooted in its place of origin, with a personality that recalls his father's school while expressing a sensibility of its own. These very rare bottles are among the most sought-after by collectors of grower Champagne.
