The wine in this vintage

Montrachet is the most celebrated white Grand Cru of Burgundy, straddling Puligny and Chassagne. Domaine Ramonet's parcel is tiny and only a handful of bottles are made each year, which makes it one of the rarest and most coveted white wines in the world. 2020, one of the earliest harvests ever, gave small and concentrated berries; the best whites kept a lively acidity. In the glass it shows candied citrus, white peach, honey, toasted hazelnut and mineral nuances, with a broad, deep and vibrant palate and extraordinary length. It is a wine built for long ageing.

The producer · Domaine Ramonet

Domaine Ramonet in Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the most legendary houses of white Burgundy. It was founded in the 1920s by Pierre Ramonet, who built the estate by acquiring parcels in the finest climats of Chassagne and later a few precious rows in the great crus of Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet; today it is run by his grandsons Noël and Jean-Claude Ramonet. The style is classic and free of artifice: low yields, measured use of new oak and patient ageing, giving wines of great purity, tension and ageing potential. Made in tiny quantities, its bottles are among the most sought after by collectors around the world.
