Domaine Ramonet in Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the most sought after names in white Burgundy. Its Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru comes from the hill of Corton, on limestone and marl soils, and joins the mineral tension of the cru with the precision of the Ramonet style. 2021, a small vintage marked by the April frosts, gave taut, crystalline whites of great finesse. In the glass it offers citrus, apple, white flowers, hazelnut and a struck flint note, with a taut, saline palate and a long finish. It deserves a few years in the cellar and pairs with shellfish, fine fish and poultry.
The producer · Domaine Ramonet
Domaine Ramonet in Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the most legendary houses of white Burgundy. It was founded in the 1920s by Pierre Ramonet, who built the estate by acquiring parcels in the finest climats of Chassagne and later a few precious rows in the great crus of Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet; today it is run by his grandsons Noël and Jean-Claude Ramonet. The style is classic and free of artifice: low yields, measured use of new oak and patient ageing, giving wines of great purity, tension and ageing potential. Made in tiny quantities, its bottles are among the most sought after by collectors around the world.
