The wine in this vintage

Spring frost, minimal yields and a cool summer: 2021 tested the growers of Gevrey-Chambertin, yet rewarded those who selected carefully with wines of great purity and clarity. A.F. Gros's Gevrey-Chambertin 2021 translates the commune's typical structure into a slimmer, brighter version, true to the vintage. The nose shows cherry, blackberry, currant, forest floor, spice and an earthy hint; the palate is fresh and well built, with fine tannins and a savoury finish. This village wine already drinks with pleasure, pairing well with meat dishes, and can be kept for a few more years as it develops more complex nuances.

The producer · A.F. Gros

Domaine A.F. Gros bears the name of Anne-Françoise Gros, heir to one of Vosne-Romanée's most illustrious wine dynasties, the Gros family, established in the village since the nineteenth century. Married to François Parent, himself a descendant of a historic Pommard winegrowing family, Anne-Françoise created a domaine that unites two Burgundian traditions: the refinement of the Côte de Nuits and the earthier character of the Côte de Beaune. The estate is based in Pommard, while its vineyards range from great Vosne-Romanée climats, including the Grand Cru Richebourg and Échézeaux, to parcels in Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pommard. Today the domaine is run by her children Caroline and Mathias, who continue its approach with careful viticulture and precise winemaking. The house style favours ripe, fleshy fruit, soft tannins and approachable elegance, giving wines that are enjoyable young yet able to age gracefully, authentic expressions of their respective terroirs.
