2021 was a complicated vintage for Burgundy, marked by April frost and a cool, damp summer that drastically cut yields. The resulting wines have a classic profile, lighter and more transparent, highlighting the finesse of Pinot Noir. A.F. Gros's Chambolle-Musigny 2021 embodies that delicacy perfectly: a village wine that expresses the floral, silky soul of its commune, with aromas of raspberry, red cherry, violet, rose and fine spice. The palate is agile, fresh and saline, with slender tannins and good persistence. Already enjoyable, it is ideal for lovers of Burgundy's most elegant side and can be kept for a few more years, gaining complexity along the way.
The producer · A.F. Gros
Domaine A.F. Gros bears the name of Anne-Françoise Gros, heir to one of Vosne-Romanée's most illustrious wine dynasties, the Gros family, established in the village since the nineteenth century. Married to François Parent, himself a descendant of a historic Pommard winegrowing family, Anne-Françoise created a domaine that unites two Burgundian traditions: the refinement of the Côte de Nuits and the earthier character of the Côte de Beaune. The estate is based in Pommard, while its vineyards range from great Vosne-Romanée climats, including the Grand Cru Richebourg and Échézeaux, to parcels in Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Pommard. Today the domaine is run by her children Caroline and Mathias, who continue its approach with careful viticulture and precise winemaking. The house style favours ripe, fleshy fruit, soft tannins and approachable elegance, giving wines that are enjoyable young yet able to age gracefully, authentic expressions of their respective terroirs.
