The wine
Monfortino is Conterno's most celebrated Riserva and one of Italy's great wines: Nebbiolo from Cascina Francia in Serralunga, made only in the finest vintages, with long macerations and many years in large casks before release.
Tasting notes
Deep and austere in its youth, with dark red fruit, dried rose, spice, liquorice and forest-floor notes; dense tannins and extraordinary length. At its best after many years in bottle.

Giacomo Conterno
Giacomo Conterno is one of the iconic Barolo estates, in Serralunga d'Alba since 1908. Today Roberto Conterno runs it with the family's rigour: low yields, traditional winemaking and long ageing in large oak casks.

Braised meats, game, white truffle, aged cheeses.
